Profile of the teddy bear artist - Loris Hancock

Loris can't remember a time when she hasn't been involved with craftwork, she made her first bear in 1988 and now makes mini bears full time.

Most of her bears are less than 6" and her favorite size is 3". She also sell kits to budding bear makers as well as taking workshops.

Loris travels to shows in many countries and has won several prizes in major competitions, recently winning the prestigious "People's Choice Award" at the Ross Park Zoo Teddy Bear Artists Invitational in New York in both 2002, 2003 & 2004.

She has been published in books and magazines nationally and internationally. Her bears are exhibited in several overseas museums.

She prefers to make one of a kind bears. Nature plays an important part in her ideas. She is well known to collectors for her attention to detail, use of colour and fine detailed accessories.

Husband BEARded Bob travels with her to bear shows. "We have made many wonderful friendships through the world of bear making, the best thing about the Teddy Bear World is the Teddy Bear People," says Loris.
